This story is a magically captivating read. It tells the tale of a free-spirited girl named Rois who almost lives in the woods near her father's cottage. She uses the forest's offerings to create teas and remedies for the villagers and one day meets a man who suddenly appears as if out of light. He and his family are supposedly cursed and as Rois gets to know him, she no longer sees only the beauty of the forest, but the darkness as well and how wild it can become. Soon she and her sister, Laurel, are caught in nature's brier roses unable to free themselves. A beautiful fairy-tale with such an elegant language! Many times, I felt deep inside the story happily lost in the old-fashioned spellings of words and poetic paragraphs. A must read for any season!
